Exclusive: Big Brother Fan Fave Guest Stars on Bold and the Beautiful Sep 18, 2013 09:07 AM ET by Michael Logan Howard Overby won't be winning the grand prize on Wednesday's season finale of CBS's Big Brother (9:30/8:30c) because he was evicted from the game weeks ago. But the popular houseguest still has reason to smile. He's landed a guest spot on his mama's all-time favorite show, CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful! TV Guide Magazine spoke with Overby — a youth counselor from Hattiesburg, Miss. — about his two-day suds gig, airing October 24-25. TV Guide Magazine: You sure know how to make your mother proud! Overby: This is so exciting! A blessing! I got a call out of the blue from The Bold and the Beautiful asking if I'd like to appear on the show. I said yes without knowing any of the particulars because I was raised in a house with a lot of females — my mom, my grandma and two older sisters — and everyone watched the CBS soaps. And The Bold and the Beautiful is the one my mom loves most. [Laughs] Her only problem is that it's only half an hour long! So getting that call really floored me. It's crazy. There's nothing better than making your mom happy. TV Guide Magazine: I hear you're playing the DJ/Host on Karaoke Night at the Bikini Bar, when Wyatt and Hope drop by with some of the Forrester Creations international buyers. Overby: Getting to work with Darin Brooks and Kim Matula was great. We get a real happy-go-lucky, very sexual but laid-back vibe going in the bar. To be at CBS with all that soap-opera and game-show history was a frickin' dream, man! I've done some plays and a little extra work in films with Sylvester Stallone and Nicolas Cage, and have always wanted do more acting. [Laughs] So let's pray for that, America! While I was at CBS, I got to meet Kristoff St. John [Neil] from The Young and the Restless. The whole day I had goosebumps. Rachel Reilly, Brendon Villegas and Jeff Schroeder from Big Brother are also in the same episodes, plus Malcolm Freberg from Survivor.

Jeff Schroeder to host Big Brother Premiere Week on cbs.com LOS ANGELES – BIG BROTHER fans will have even more interactive and cross-platform elements to enjoy when the new season kicks off with a special two-night premiere, Wednesday, June 25 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) and Thursday, June 26 (9:00-10:00 PM), on the CBS Television Network. FUN FACTS ABOUT JEFF SCHROEDER As our TVGrapevine readers know, we are huge fans and supporters of Big Brother. We have spoken to several of the contestants and give 24/7 coverage during the season. When I was presented with the chance to catch up with fan favorite Jeff Schroeder (engaged to Jordan Lloyd, past winner and another fan favorite) I jumped at the opportunity. I was always a fan of him and his videos on CBS during the Big Brother season, but I was curious to see what he was doing now. By the end of the interview, I felt as if I’d made a new friend and had an all new respect for the man. 1. Now that Big Brother is on hiatus (He works with CBS.com doing video interviews with contestants and bringing us highlights) he is working with a company called DreamJobbing. He had worked with the people involved in the past and decided to collaborate with them again. What is this project? Jeff, along with a team of people help find someone to join him in a commercial for Lucky Bruddha Beer, which is actually a favorite of Jeff’s. Contestants have to find a way to use the beer creatively and submit a video of themselves doing so. More details can be found on www.DreamJobbing.com/LuckyBuddhaBeer 2. Jeff says that he loves the creativity of the videos and how this is an outlet for people to live their dreams. He also loves seeing the amazing, worthwhile things people come up with and that he can’t wait to see it come out in the commercial. So what would he do if HE were entering the contest? He says he would somehow incorporate his love of painting into it, all while drinking the beet and seeing what others in social media were doing. 3. Once this wraps up, Jeff will be gearing up for the next season of Big Brother. While he did not confirm or deny if he was returning to the CBS.com videos, he did say that he hopes to work with them again, He adds that he is also working on another project with them, but as alf right now, he can’t say much. He is, however, excited to work with them again. 4. What is his advice to those auditioning this season? It is simple. Be yourself, and remember that it is a long journey in the house. He says that a lot of times, people audition because they want to be in the spotlight, but it ends up being the opposite of what they were hoping for. He adds that people should be kind, enjoy the experience and when doing a video or attending a casting call, remember to show who you are, talk about yourself and why you are who you are. Another thing Jeff mentioned was that people auditioning should not mention other people or have them in the video. He reminds us that it is a crazy ride and people should be careful what they wish for. 5. As for the Amazing Race, he also loved that experience and says it was an awesome, amazing ride. He says it does go by quickly and for him, it was interesting because he and Jordan were still getting to know each other. He says that he would love to do it again because he thinks that this time, they would be a better, stronger team. As for this season, he is rooting for Matt and Ashley, but he loves different things about each team. He is sad that #TeamNewKid is gone because he knew they were having a blast. 6. As for everything else in his life, Jeff says things are going great right now both professionally and personally. He is working, planning his wedding to Jordan and ‘riding the wave.’ meaning that he knows there are highs and lows, but he is staying level heading and being happy with what he has in life. No. 2: JEFF USES THE COUP D’ÉTAT (SEASON ELEVEN) After being awarded secret power to overthrow the head of household by the viewers, Jeff chose to shock his roommates and use it on eviction night. By saving his pal Russell and sending villain Jessie out the door, he changed the course of the game. The Jessie alliance, overwhelmed by his sudden eviction, held an impromptu memorial, crying and carrying on as if he had died. The result was one of the most melodramatic and unintentionally hilarious moments ever on Big Brother. Grodner’s take: “America voted for someone to have the Coup d’État. Jeff was flattered to get it, although he couldn’t pronounce it—which was a funny moment. He knew he had to get rid of his archenemy, Jessie. So he did. HOH Blog: Jeff Posted on Aug 25, 2011 10:30pm ­­hey everyone its big jeff here your new HOH. let me start off by explaining the 3rd person nickname "big jeff". it started off as just a joke between me and my buddies, and some how in the BB house it got out of control a little bit so sorry about the the 3rd person references in the DR, just having fun. i wanted to give a little shout out to my brother scott for all the great pic's of me, my parents, nieces, himself, and my HOH basket. thank you marley and macy for the wonderful letters you wrote me, really made my day and gave me more motivation than ever to understand what i was playing for and why i'm here, TO WIN!! my sister in law ali got the shaft from from my HOH pic's but i was still thinking of you! i also have another older brother people might not know about with a wife and 5 kids and i wish them all the best as well. my parents, family and good friends thanks for all the support! love you very much!!! i'm gonna do my very best to get jordan and i to the final 2, im determined and extremely motivated!!! really quick just wanted to say hi to dick sorry you had to go brother, hope all is well! Is it because she told Rachel that you threw the cornhole challenge? A. Jeff: It was just to call Shelly out. She made three deals with other people in the house. That might have been my demise, but it happened the way it happened. I wasn't scared of anyone in the house, but ultimately, that was my demise. Either way, I'm out and they are in. Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Are you surprised that she suddenly turned on your alliance? A. Jeff: Shocked. I thought I would be friends with Shelly after the game - and I want to say that it is all just a game - but for Shelly to do something like that really hurt. Gina, RealityWanted: Playing a week's worth of Big Brother in one night might be great television but it seems pretty terrible if you're a player and end up on the wrong side of things. Jeff Schroeder’s ‘Around the World for Free’: World class Sept 4/2010 Blog Hold me down! I’m big-time digging Jeff Schroeder’s Around the World for Free on CBS.com. Some of it has been slightly canned, like the plugs for American Airlines (a sponsor), but the great majority of it is killer stuff. Anyone who backpacks will recognize what he’s going throughright now as he tries to make it around the world without spending any money, instead relying on the generosity of the people who are following the trip online, like an open-palmed version of the Travel Channel’s dearly departed 5 Takes. Although the series’ conceit seems like a stunt, it takes a special traveler not to make an actual stunt out of it. Jeff on Big Brother As a not-so-closet fan of Big Brother, I watched Schroeder last summer, and I grew to appreciate his demeanor, his almost childlike joy for seemingly trivial stuff, and the respect he has forother people. Reality television players can be unabashedly self-serving, but Jeff wasn’t. He was the frat boy who cared. I watched the Big Brother live feeds, which expose players every minute of the day, and his character held up — when he had momentary lapses,he instantly recognized his failings and made up for them. This summer, as he does this trip, I have grown to appreciate him even more. He’s bushy-tailed and peppy, and what he lacks in eloquence (most stuff is either “amazing” or “awesome” he makes up for in enthusiasm and empathy. He’s unfailingly polite, hungry to learn, and is good at anticipating his audience’s questions. Two weeks ago, Schroeder served for a day with a People for Care and Learning, a humanitarian group that delivers water purification devices to floating villages in one of the poorest provinces in Cambodia. In this segment, from a week ago, he’s stranded in Pakse, Laos. He’s not allowed to spend money, but he needs $18 for a bus fare. Begging for cash in a poor place like Laos would be highly unsavory. I seem to remember another show from about 10 years ago that was built on just such a premise — strand the players, see how they get home — and it turned me off. But that’s not how Schroeder is handling things. He’d rather go thirsty than be a burden on the locals. This clip brings me a flood of powerful travel memories: the heat of a Southeast Asian village’s streets, the benign language barrier, that unique feeling of wandering aimlessness paired with the traveler’s faith that everything will turn out just fine. And what backpackerhasn’t found himself struggling to find a Wi-Fi signal, peering in the windows of the fancy hotels? “I don’t want to mooch off anybody. That’s not why I signed up,” Schroeder says. He doesn’t have a production team to put words like that in his mouth. He made it out. Today, he’s in Bangkok battling some tummy trouble, and he appears to have been reunited with the prodigiously talented videographer and editor named Zsolt Luka (I wouldn’t give Luka’s daily edit-and-recharge demands to a monkey on a rock) who accompanies him much of the time and whom I have to assume is equally responsible for the spirit of this endeavor. Schroeder is making this odyssey not about himself, but about the people he meets, and that’s clearly by design and not by accident.
